The Next Infinity

The Next Infinity is a side-scrolling platformer with puzzle elements, where the player must overcome a perilous frozen world by controlling two characters with differing abilities at the same time.

My Contributions:
Designer, Programmer, Artist: This game was my senior project in high school, designed, programmed, illustrated, and animated every feature. I employed the help of a close friend of mine to create and gather sound effects for the game.

Challenges and Solutions:
This was my first large project, so the main difficulty for me was learning to complete the full development cycle. I built the game alongside multiple QA testers who gave me feedback at every turn, slowly carving the game from a basic platformer with strange controls around shooting arrows into a single-player self-coop game with some unique mechanics and a strong visual style.
Development was a massive process of learning to swallow my own pride, balance tiredness and excitement, and just learn how to present myself to testers and interpret their feedback into positive changes to the game.
By the end I burned out before giving it a proper ending, but I gained a deep love for this process, and a desire to work on larger projects where there's time for deep playtesting sessions and designing interesting new game mechanics.
